UHealth/Miller Research: Advancing Patient Care

Miami Clinical Research Center

The University of Miami Health System (UHealth) is powered by the groundbreaking research taking place at the Miller School of Medicine.

UHealth patients benefit from the latest discoveries – discoveries that are fast-tracked from our labs to our clinics where they are used by top physicians to treat a wide variety of diseases and disorders.

Recent Medical Breakthroughs

Research is a complex, costly and time-consuming endeavor. But the investment pays huge dividends in terms of our ability to understand and treat heart disease, cancer, diabetes, paralysis, and many other diseases and disorders.

Healing Through Innovation

Exciting new developments in UHealth research include:

Clinical Trials

The process of expediting laboratory discoveries to clinical trials is the distinguishing feature of university-based care, and UHealth has more than 1,500 active clinical research studies currently underway – all in an effort to uncover the most effective treatments for our patients.

These studies are taking place in departments across UHealth including cardiology, hepatology, and obstetrics and gynecology, as well as in UHealth’s world-renowned centers and institutes such as:

Clinical Research: Benefits for Patients

UHealth physicians are keenly aware of the value of clinical research and communicate with investigators to find out which patients are best suited for the study. As a patient participating in clinical research, you’ll be able to:

  • Access therapies and drugs that are not yet widely available.
  • Help physicians and scientists gain greater knowledge that will ultimately benefit many people.
