At University of Miami Hospital’s Emergency Room, a team of physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners is available 24 hours a day to treat most medical emergencies.

Level I Cardiac Center- 24-hour interventional cardiologist on call
- Door-to-cardiac cath in 30 minutes

Ryder Trauma Center
Patients in Miami-Dade County who have suffered traumatic injuries are rushed by ambulance or air rescue to Ryder Trauma Center at the University of Miami/ Jackson Memorial Medical Center.
Ryder Trauma Center is:
- A free-standing, state-of-the-art, 166,000-square-foot Level I trauma center.
- The only certified Level I trauma center in South Florida for adults and children.
- Geared to lowering the preventable death rate by speeding up the delivery of trauma care during the “golden hour,†the critical 60 minutes after an injury.
- Renowned around the world for its clinical excellence in providing advanced trauma care.
Ryder Trauma Center is also home to South Florida’s only Burn Center. One of the leading burn treatment facilities in the nation, the Burn Center provides specialized treatment, rehabilitation, and follow-up care for patients who have suffered burns due to fire, chemicals, scalding liquids, and other causes.
