Established in 1965, University of Miami Health System Family Medicine and Community Health was the first academic family medicine department in the country.

UHealth Family Medicine is well known and respected for its history of community service as well as for its mission to improve access and the effectiveness of primary medical care throughout the Miami-Dade community.

Specialties:

• Preventive care, health screening and physical exams for individuals of all ages
• Annual health evaluations
• Routine care for women, including Pap smears, pelvic and breast exams
• Obstetrics, including prenatal care, delivery and postpartum care
• Newborn and well-child care
• Physical exams for sports, school and summer camp
• Flu shots, allergy injections and immunizations
• Acute care for short-term illness
• Ongoing care of chronic problems
• Treatment of complex and long-term medical conditions including diabetes and high blood pressure
• Biopsy and excision of skin lesions
• Incision and drainage of abscesses

UMCare /Kendall
The UMCare/Kendall facility provides patient services in the specialties of family medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, neurology, and pediatrics. Ancillary services available include bone density screenings, on-site laboratory services, and OB/GYN ultrasounds.  Walk-ins are welcome.
