Gerontology at UHealth

University of Miami Health System Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine seeks to provide older persons with improved health, independence, and quality of life. Specific concerns are the aging process; the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of health care problems; and the social and economic conditions that affect the health care of the elderly.

UHealth's Gerontology team of medical and science professionals pursues the following goals:

  • Apply innovative interdisciplinary models for delivering, teaching, and improving elder/senior care
  • Train health professionals, students, staff, and practitioners in best practices in models of senior care
  • Explicate a cellular and molecular theory for aging and age-related disease
