Gynecology and Women’s Services at UHealth - University of Miami Health System provides comprehensive care through a network of hospitals and numerous outpatient health care facilities.

Women’s Health consists of five divisions:
Gynecology
Our physicians specialize in treatment and management of:
- Abnormal bleeding and menstrual disorders
- Uterine fibroids and endometriosis
- Prolapse
- Menopausal symptoms
- Cervical dysplasia
- Abnormal Pap smears
Other services include:
- Well-woman exams
- Management of routine pregnancies
- Adolescent and pediatric gynecology
- Contraceptives
- HPV vaccine
- Treatment of vaginal infections and sexually transmitted diseases
- Management of miscarriage
- Management of unintended pregnancies
Surgery
Many gynecologic disorders can now be treated with minimally invasive surgical procedures, offering patients the benefits of less pain, fewer complications and reduced recovery time.
Some of the procedures our doctors perform include:
- Endometrial ablation
- Laparoscopy
- Hysteroscopy
- Robotic surgery
- Outpatient sterilization (Essure), performed in-office
Prenatal and Postpartum Care
Confirmation of pregnancy
Prenatal and follow-up care of routine pregnancy and postpartum visits (delivery is handled at Jackson Memorial Hospital)
Management of High-Risk Pregnancies
Specialized care for pregnant women with diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiac disease, lupus, infectious diseases, recurrent pregnancy losses, and multiple pregnancies
Ultrasound
Accredited by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, the Division of Diagnositc Ultrasound provides services by a team of maternal-fetal medicine specialist physicians, gynecologists, and dedicated sonographers.
Using state of the art ultrasound equipment, services include:
- Routine obstetrical ultrasound
- Detailed (Level II) ultrasound, first and second trimester screening (nuchal translucency)
- Fetal well-being evaluations
- Doppler studies
- Genetic consultation for suspected chromosomal or fetal anomalies
- Invasive procedures for women who have a significant risk for known genetic or hereditary disorders, abnormal ultrasound or a family history of genetic diseases
- Management of maternal diseases affecting pregnancy
- Ultrasound-guided fetal blood transfusion and other invasive procedures
- Gynecologic/gynecologic oncology diagnostic ultrasound
Gynecologic Oncology
Trained specialists in gynecologic oncology (cancer involving the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, vagina and vulva) offer services at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Miller School of Medicine and Deerfield Beach.
- Consultation and comprehensive management of gynecologic cancer
- Management of abnormal Pap smears and other diagnostic exams
- Chemotherapy and radiotherapy
- Minimally invasive and robotic surgery
We also offer patients access to one of the only certified genetic counselors specializing in cancer genetics in South Florida. Our genetic counselors test patients and their families for the genes that put them at a higher risk for hereditary cancer syndromes.
Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
Our specialists provide services for women experiencing infertility, recurrent miscarriages, excessive hair growth, and conditions like Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, endometriosis, and menopause.
Our comprehensive infertility services include:
- Artificial insemination (IUI)
- Controlled ovarian stimulation
- Endoscopic surgery (laparoscopy, hysteroscopy)
- In vitro fertilization (IVF)
- Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)
- Pre-Implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD)
- Tubal reanastomosis
Urogynecology
Our urogynecology specialists are highly trained in performing anti-incontinence procedures and minimally invasive pelvic reconstructive surgery, including alternatives to hysterectomy.
We provide management and treatment of:
- Urinary incontinence
- Fecal incontinence
- Conditions affecting the pelvis, lower urinary and gastrointestinal tract
- Treatment for uterine and vaginal wall prolapse (uterine prolapse, cystocele, rectocele)
- Pelvic floor dysfunction
- Bowel hernia
- Recurrent urinary tract infections
- Bladder and urethral pain (interstitial cystitis)
